Christopher Cox, Music with Enterprise (2017)
What made you want to study your course at the University?
Music has always been a large part of my life and there wasn’t much doubt that I would continue to pursue it at University. I started playing music at the age of six. I have always been interested in performing and gathered a wide variety of playing experience before university. Alongside music, I also had a keen interested in drama and performed semi-professionally as a member of my County Youth Theatre.
Originally, I began my time at Leeds on the BMus performance course. However, I soon realised the Music with Enterprise course could be beneficial in broadening my career prospects. This was exciting and I was eager to learn more about an area in which I had not studied before.
Describe the aspects of the course that you have enjoyed the most.
The Music with Enterprise programme has a great balance of modules. For instance, I could primarily focus on the areas of music I was most interested in – such as performance – whilst at the same time, acquire valuable skills in entrepreneurship.
I have truly loved the networking skills I have gained and the people I have met throughout my time at Leeds. I have been involved in many shows with the musical societies as well as performing in bands and earning a professional wage doing so
What are you planning to do once you graduate?
Having finished my BA, I am pursuing a Masters in Music and Management here at the University of Leeds.
