This research programme is designed for students wishing to take their research in musicology, music psychology or music technology beyond an MA. Studying for an MPhil enables students to pursue advanced, independent research under the guidance of one or two specialist supervisors. For assessment, students will produce a thesis demonstrating a significant contribution to knowledge and scholarship, with ideas that are at, or informed by, the forefront of the discipline. The School of Music offers a supportive and stimulating environment for postgraduate research, welcoming students from all parts of the world. Whatever your area of study in the field of music you will have access to expert supervision and excellent practical resources.
You can study an MPhil degree full time over 2yrs or part time over 4yrs.
At the end of the course candidates must present a thesis of 60,000 words maximum on the subject of his/her research
