Abstract
Playing, sounding, and staying together have been fundamental to many modes of musical performance for centuries. I will discuss what it means to play “together” and look at the principal methods which have evolved to solve these problems, each with advantages and disadvantages. New compositional and performance models, and new solutions to problems of synchronisation will be examined.
