This presentation looks at the place of creative entrepreneurship for emerging professionals in the performing arts. It begins by considering the concept of creative entrepreneurship and its significance within contemporary contexts. It goes on to report on research illuminating the experience of emerging professionals in the performing arts as they set up and grow fledgling companies and social enterprises. This highlights a number of particular challenges faced by these artists, and the potential of this work in catalysing sustainable careers and individuals’ confidence in their professional identities.
